Red Dot

A Practice of Looking

Red Dot is a mindfulness game for parents, children, adults, people, and planet.

Download the images, and create an album on your phone. Then, create a Photos based widget on your phone, set to the album.

Each day, practice looking for one thing: a red dot, a blue square, a green triangle... you'll soon find there's more in the world than you thought.

When kids need help redirecting their focus, try asking them to look for the daily item:

A ZIP file with all the jpgs can be downloaded below, but if you're on your phone, saving each image one by one is easiest.

For 3 months, I practiced looking only for Red Dots, an exercise from Ruki Ravikumar at The School of Design, in her class 'Design in Global Cultures'. It was fascinating, each student had to turn in a new photo of a red dot each class period, or 2x a week. The more I looked, the more I found! After the class ended, I kept looking.

This game is free, and I encourage everyone to play it! Share the items you find with your loved ones, make your own visual journal - but most of all, enjoy the discovery.
